Trip to Glasgow

I attend a cardmaking class in Killyleagh and each year the group organises a weekend trip to Glasgow to the Hobbycrafts Exhibition.

This was my 4th year and it was great.  Thirty five ladies and one very patient bus driver!

The group hires McAvoy's of Greyabbey and Robin is so patient and accommodating to the retail therapy we undertake!
This year we travelled on the 7.30 ferry from Belfast to Stranraer and drove immediately to the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet shopping centre, arriving in time for lunch and then shop, shop til 6pm.

I came to a stop at 5 and texted my chums to meet me in the Wetherspoons pub where a bottle of wine was chillin!  Great craic.

From there we went to our Hotel - Mint (strange name for a hotel group?) but it is lovely.

Right beside the Clyde river - hotel on the left, river on the right,
view from my bedroom window,

and just feet away from the SECC Exhibition Centre.

Saturday I spent the whole day at the craft fair and thoroughly enjoyed it.  It's so great to be able to saunter back to the hotel without having to wait on transport.  Not everyone who comes on the trip is interested in crafting so they can go into Glasgow to shop instead.

Food was lovely at the hotel and I couldn't resist taking this photo of the berry cheesecake!

Sunday is homeward day, after breakfast my chum Margaret and I took a short walk along the riverside, the path goes on for miles but we only had time for a 20 minute stroll.

From the hotel we went to Silverburn Shopping Centre for more retail therapy, a huge centre.  Then another stop at the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum.  Lovely place to visit, we hadn't enough time but visited the shop and the cafe and would definitely recommend a visit.

5.30 ferry home and I stepped back into my home at 10pm - fab weekend, many thanks to everyone for their company, Libby for organising and Robin for driving!
